School-based Management

School Management Resources help School Heads establish more effective schools through the implementation of the School Improvement Plan (SIP), which focuses on the improvement of teaching and learning outcomes of our students. This site provides all the training and associated material to accompany four cycles of training, concentrating on Planning for School Improvement.

  1. Cycle 1 - What is an Effective School, drafting a School Improvement Plan, which includes GOALS in Curriculum, Staff Management and Development, Learning Environment, Resource Management and Community Building incorporating School Context, Vision, Mission and Goals and the collaboration of the stakeholders.
  2. Cycle 2 - Refinement of School Improvement Plans incorporating the School Context, Vision, Mission, and Goals ready for school year 2005-2006. Skills in developing and monitoring Action Plans were also introduced. Cluster meetings conducted were reported by the cluster coordinators where good practices and problems met were shared for the sustainability of the program.
  3. Cycle 3 - Schools First Initiative (SFI), including the enhancement of the School Improvement Plan, School Governing Councils, Teaching and Learning, Materials Development and Assessment, The overall focus is the promotion of student-centered learning with emphasis on developing Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS).
  4. Cycle 4 - Performance Management. The key aspects emphasize Change, National Competency-Based Teachers Standards, Teachers' Professional Developmet Framework, School Heads' Professional Develpment Framework, PP Development Framework, Student Assessment, and SIP Evaluation for Impact. The overall focus is the promotion of a performance and developmental framework which is not threatening/punitive but supportive.
