Assessment Training

“Learning can be fun and meaningful when teachers provide opportunities for students to APPLY their practical knowledge and skills; use INTERACTIVE learning approaches; and give greater emphasis on developing students “CRITICAL and CREATIVE THINKING SKILLS.”

This Assessment Package consists of 8 separate training modules. It is designed for classroom teachers to enhance their understanding on the implementation of constructivist approach in teaching-learning process and to stimulate support from school leaders in making a paradigm shift in their instructional leadership principles and practices to achieve quality education.

In today's educational world of changing curriculums and approaches to teaching and learning, assessment methods also need to change to match and support these approaches to achieve the targeted objectives. The Basic Education Curriculum is encouraging student-centered learning approaches based on the theory of constructivism and with the development of higher order thinking skills (HOTS). The learning principles related to these approaches need to be reflected in the assessment principle and strategies. What we assess and how it is done, is directly related to what we believe is important in the learning program.

Further, this module aims to help teachers to prepare lessons that will address the individual needs of the students in an effort to increase of their performance and achievement levels.
